This project’s aim was to document cinematic moments of Japanese metropolitan life in cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Sapporo and to attend as many cultural festivals (matsuri) as they provided a perfect backdrop of crossing the ancient and the contemporary. However this trip included many unforeseen stops in many curious locations which made it all the more precious. Visiting many cities, towns, and individual points of interest in depth during our 3 month grueling travel, gave me an opportunity to witness many aspects of Japanese life, often hidden away from the touristic eyes.
